Perhaps the thing that most perplexes me about Trump and his minions is how they can do something so often and for so long yet still be terrible at it. The something I’m talking about is lying. Let’s explore.
Repetition will bring about proficiency if you have talent. The best example I can think of is hitting in baseball. Many old-timers don’t even count the first fifty at bats of a pre-season/season. They think it takes them to get your timing down.
I will be interested in what the Washington Post comes up with for a final count of Trump’s lies in office. I know it is already well in excess of 20,000 and that excludes the statements that will prove to be lies but couldn’t fairly be categorized as such at the point of occurrence. You would think with all those reps they would be good liars; they are not. Last week we had another glaring example of Trump and his cronies telling easily disprovable lies.
The Trump legal team under the names of Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis claimed Sidney Powell was not part of Trump’s legal team. They said she, “Is not a member of the Trump legal team”. They went on to declare that, “Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own. She is also not a lawyer for the President in his personal capacity.”
Thursday, in another of their bizarre press events, (at least this one wasn’t in front of a landscaping company next door to a porn shop) Powell was among the assembled Trump lawyers and in fact took to the microphones. Among her claims was that the election was rigged against Trump by among others Hugo Chavez. The biggest problem with that statement is that Chavez, the former President of Venezuela, died on March 5, 2013.
On November 14th, Trump tweeted the following: “I look forward to Mayor Giuliani spearheading the legal effort to defend OUR RIGHT to FREE and FAIR ELECTIONS! Rudy Giuliani, Joseph DiGenova, Victoria Toensing, Sidney Powell and Jenna Ellis, a truly great team added to our wonderful lawyers and representatives!”
Faced with the factual evidence how can you come to the conclusion that Powell is acting on her own with no sanction from Trump? Like most of what Trump and his minions have uttered post-election you can’t believe it.
When your legal dream team is led by Rudy Giuliani of the melting mascara it no wonder the courts have afforded you just one victory in over twenty attempts and that lone victory was not of any consequence. Not only can’t Trump govern, despite abundant experience before and during his presidency, he and his people can’t lie well either.
