My longtime readers know my theory that the modern Republican party is held up by three pillars one of which is the promotion of ignorance. It’s basically an extension of the Mushroom Theory (which my self-imposed PG rating prohibits me from defining here).

Today’s posting is somewhat unusual in that it is primarily an open letter to white, rural voters. Statistically you vote overwhelmingly Republican. You actually believe they are working for your interests. You are deceiving yourself!
What Unites Them
When a political party does not issue a platform at its last national convention – as the Republicans didn’t in 2020 – it is difficult to ascertain just what it stands for. Two year later they had a disappointing mid-term (I’m being kind in my choice of words). In early 2023 they appear to be in both disarray and internal conflict. However, there are few things that unite them and I’ll briefly outline them in today’s posting.

Tomorrow is February 1st and with it comes Black History Month. Despite the best efforts of Republican Governor and 2024 presidential wannabe Ron “Kinky Boots” DeSantis that is still a fact. You can probably already see where I’m going.
