The New Johnson

I’m back from my “hiatus” and with that back to my version of live blogging. The biggest political story, (although some may dispute me on my choice), revolves around the election of Louisiana Republican Mike Johnson as Speaker of the House. As I began to formulate my thoughts on approaching this article an old comedy routine came to mind. Arguably it was made most popular in a 1978 Natural Light beer commercial in which comedian Raymond J. Johnson, Jr. offered several alternatives by which he could be addressed culminating in a slap stick/burlesque quality punchline “…but you doesn’t have to call me Johnson.”

Unjustifiable

It is my usual Sunday practice to write about what I felt was the biggest political story of the week just ended. As of this early writing (Thursday) I feel the biggest story is one that has been developing and will continue to develop. The Enshrinement Of Joe Biden

It was a summer afternoon in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2012 and for the first time in my life I was in the same room with the sitting Vice President of the United States of America, Joe Biden. As he entered the room a spontaneous cheer of “BFD, BFD” erupted from the crowd. Just as quickly an “ah, shucks” grin broke out on Biden’s face.
