A Day Is Inadequate

Most often the Sunday article covers the biggest political story of the week just ended. Well, they are simply coming to fast and furiously to determine one as the biggest. Separating them is also another challenge. Also the volume is overwhelming to the point that too many stories get little or no coverage despite their impact. Today I will use a slightly different format of “quick hits” more like one of the many “catch up” articles. Upon commencement I already know one day will be woefully inadequate so this is effectively Part I and Monday’s article will be Part II.   Let’s explore. Continue reading A Day Is Inadequate

Of Peaks And Valleys

Much of the financial gambling class, (rich white boys on Wall Street mainly playing with other people’s money), keep talking of a V-shaped recovery from the current Trump Depression. (Expect they refuse to recognize the fact that we are in the Trump Depression.) I have a much different take on the current American economic situation and as is often the case I hope I’m wrong; but I doubt it. Let’s explore. Continue reading Of Peaks And Valleys

Yes, It’s That Bad

By the time you read this we will most likely have 80,000 American deaths attributed to the coronavirus (that number is a severe undercount). The American justice system has problems and the current regime is exacerbating them. There has long been a disparity between the prosecution and punishment for white collar and other crimes. It is now to the point that Trump connected or condoned white collar crime goes unpunished. Unemployment is officially at Great Depression levels and increasing. If that weren’t bad enough we know the reporting system is such that the numbers do not include all the unemployed many of whom have not been able to access an overwhelmed system. Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senate Majority Leader, called his chamber back into session last week not to address any of those problems but to push often unqualified Trump nominees through. Yes, it’s that bad and come along with me as I make another, what will prove to be incomplete, attempt to catchup.     Continue reading Yes, It’s That Bad

Unabated Evil

I can’t ever remember publishing one of my catch up articles on a Sunday. Generally that day is reserved for the big political news story of the week just ended. While over the last several weeks most Americans – or at least those of us with an above room temperature IQ – have drastically modified our behavior by social distancing and, for those of us who are fortunately enough to be able to do so, self-isolating at least to a great degree Trump and his minions are proceeding as normal. In other words they are lying and generally mismanaging the federal government while purloining from it. Let’s explore some recent examples.   Continue reading Unabated Evil

Holiday Rambling

Did the title perplex you? I have a feeling you may be in the majority if it did. For the many who did not know it, the holiday will be revealed at the end. The substance of today’s article will be a bunch of rambling comments. (This is becoming a necessary format for me.) Let’s explore. Continue reading Holiday Rambling
