Alternate Endings

My current plans are to commence writing a novel in February. Don’t worry, I’m not going on book leave or publishing fewer days until at least the November election. The “constraints” of writing non-fiction based on the truth provide guardrails that actually make the job easier. The idea of making stuff up and developing characters somewhat terrifies me.

Trump’s reign will someday come to an end. One of the parlor games we play is how that will come about. The reality is that nobody, including Trump, actually knows. My guess has long been that it will be via resignation ala Nixon. Even if you take that as a given (which it certainly is not) there are various paths to that end. Today I’d like to explore some of them with you.   Continue reading Alternate Endings

Slow Dancing In DC

It is fairly early on Wednesday afternoon as I commence writing this article for early Thursday morning’s publishing and my biggest fear is that it will be somewhat stale by the time you read it. There is an elaborate and seemingly continuous dance going on in Washington these days. Most of the events I will cover took place since Monday afternoon and in one case I may have to speculate. The New Nullification

Nullification: That is a word you don’t see bantered about much on the liberal side of American politics because it is a nonsense theory that is antithetical to America. It is one of the justifications white supremacists like to use to defend confederate statues. Basically it says that if you or a small group don’t like a certain law you can simply decide not to obey it. Donald Trump is attempting to take it to a whole new and much more dangerous level. He and his minions appear to want to nullify the Constitution of the United States of America. Let’s explore. Continue reading The New Nullification

The Most Powerful Man In America

Monday I saw undisputable proof of who the most powerful man in America currently is. Exactly how he got there is still somewhat of a question and I only see three possible explanations. The man is Russian President Vladimir Putin. Let’s explore. Continue reading The Most Powerful Man In America

Things To Ponder Before 9pm

If things go according to plan President Trump will unveil his Supreme Court nominee at 9pm tonight. This time I think he will stick to his word because the prime time unveiling, like a reality show, suits Trump’s ego. I’m certain I will have a lot to say about the nominee, but don’t expect me to stay up late writing for tomorrow’s column. I have some thoughts I’d like to share with you to ponder in the interim. Let’s explore.   Continue reading Things To Ponder Before 9pm
