The Unspoken Check
It is early Saturday afternoon as I begin to pen this piece. Donald Trump has rescinded the security clearance of former CIA Director John Brennan, has come out with an enemies list and is threatening to revoke their security clearances also. Word has leaked out of the White House (located in the Hamptons this weekend) that the announcements are being held so that they can be used as news cycle distractions. The title of today’s article is a riddle of sort that will be completely explained by the end. If you can guess it at this point you should be a detective or an intelligence officer. If you have it by the end of the first paragraph you must be both a baby boomer and pretty damn smart. I usually make the Sunday article about the biggest political story of the week just ended. For people of my generation another story eclipsed all others last week; the death of Aretha Franklin. Trump’s Hollow Words
On the afternoon of January 20, 2017 Donald Trump took the oath of office of the Presidency of the United States of America. Those words were his first lies in office and it hasn’t improved since. The oath reads in part, “…defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same…” In the following paragraphs I will cite several occasions where Trump has failed.
