My Green Socks

Timeline: Lunchtime on Friday. Again, measured by “ink” the biggest political story of the week just ended (by the time this is published) was the Trump legal soap opera. The timestamp is necessary because the situation is dynamic. At a distant point in time, I know I had a pair of green socks. Biden’s Life Saving Win?

One of the many lessons you learn coaching basketball is not to declare victory prematurely. It is awful embarrassing to pull your starters only to have to reenter them to preserve a win or worse yet lose a game that you should have won. With that in mind I put a question mark at the end of today’s title because the jury is still very much out but a couple of things look good.

What If It’s Scorched Earth?

I often think I learned more during the fifteen seasons I coached high school or college basketball than from my formal education. In coaching one of the keys to victory is to ascertain your opponent’s strategy. You assumed their goal was to win. Those lessons are applicable to politics and elections. What if your opponent is an incumbent who has decided they cannot win and therefore their goal is to destroy as much as possible on their way out the door? A Few Other Things

So many things get left on the “cutting room floor” in Trump’s America I’m convinced it is by design. Like the Broad Street Bullies of NHL lore they commit so many indiscretions in such rapid succession that it is impossible to cover them all.
