President Trump’s Cabinet has come under fire by progressives from the beginning. It appears that the criticism has spread across more of the political spectrum since. Far from only the best; this Cabinet doesn’t even appear to even be one of acceptable quality. Perhaps that is why we are getting the outcomes we are. The current situation reminds me of the old computer expression GIGO (garbage in; garbage out). Let’s explore. Continue reading A Question Of Quality

What’s In The Cabinet?
Scandal, it just seems to be synonymous with the Trump administration. There are 24 members of President Trump’s Cabinet. Nine, or just over one-third, have been implicated in scandals. One, Tom Price, was already forced to resign due to a scandal. If you add in those with suspect backgrounds or who are manifestly unqualified you get to 16 or two-thirds. Let’s explore. Continue reading What’s In The Cabinet?
14 For 24?
From the early days of the 2016 race knowledgeable political observers of all stripes were saying that Donald Trump was unqualified to hold the office of the presidency. In fact many, including leading Republicans, viewed his candidacy as a joke and/or publicity stunt. (I still think it may have begun as a publicity stunt and then morphed into something real almost by accident. Many in the Trump campaign never expected to win as late as the afternoon of Election Day.) Time has proven him to be unquestionably unqualified, unwilling to learn and increasingly unstable. The Constitution has a provision for handling such a situation. It is the 25th Amendment. The question is do we have enough patriots in the Cabinet to invoke it. Let’s explore. It’s All About The Hat
It is late Thursday morning as I write this article. You can’t possibly read it until early Sunday morning. I doubt the situation in Texas and Louisiana will be completely under control by Sunday. Yet on Tuesday President Trump visited Texas purportedly to tour the damage Hurricane Harvey had inflicted on the Lone Star State and bring aid with him. Instead he turned it into an infomercial to sell a hat. The constraints of time and space will not allow me to review everything he did wrong. Nonetheless I invite you along to explore with me. You Can’t Make This Stuff Up!
Early Thursday evening I was sitting in a fast food restaurant trying to eat with my oldest grandson. I had just thrown my sandwich in the garbage receptacle, which gives you an idea of what I thought of it. I sipped my soda as he finished his meal when my iPhone vibrated with a news alert from the Washington Post informing me that Donald Trump had just announced he would nominate Linda McMahon to head the Small Business Administration. All of a sudden the sandwich was pretty good in comparison. Here is the really bad news: it wasn’t Trump’s only bad move of the day let alone of the transition. I invite you to come along and explore with me but caution you not to do it in near proximity to mealtime! Continue reading You Can’t Make This Stuff Up!
