I almost feel sorry for Mitch McConnell. Only almost.
Understandably Mitch McConnell wants to be Senate Majority Leader again. Going into the 2022 election and needing to only net one seat you can see why he felt that could happen. (Here is the scary part: it still may.) Had the GOP recruited and gotten their number one draft choices through the primaries it would be all but a lock. That is not what it looks like less than a month from Election Day.

In Honor Of Labor
This weekend is Labor Day weekend. Most Americans are taking an extra day off from work to theoretically celebrate the role of labor. Unions built the middle class and modern day Republicans have been trying, with considerable success, to destroy them for over 40 years now.
Article To File: The GOP Obit
I was never trained as a journalist. I have had columns in four different newspapers over the years but they have always been opinion columns. A common task assigned to junior scribes is the writing of obituaries for famous people well in advance of their demise. I never had to do that and today is my first attempt. The “article” is basically a fill in the blanks template so that an obit can be published soon after the final “chapter”. The template is then stored away and if necessary, periodically updated.
Today’s article is a template obituary for the Republican Party.
The GOP’s Trump Problem
The big story of last week is not exclusive to last week nor was it apparent. Its impact is yet to be known but could put America in serious jeopardy if not end it, as we know it anyway. Let me expand and explain.
