If it wasn’t clear before it certainly is after Tuesday’s results: where ever possible 2024 Democratic candidates should run on choice.
22 years ago today I was talking to my biggest customer in Tarpon Springs, Florida when I heard the news of the attack on the Twin Towers. Today I’m retired and living in North Carolina’s Triangle Region. In 2001 the January 6th domestic coup attempt replaced 9/11 as the worst attack on America. But today I want to spend a few minutes on what potentially could be a more threatening attack on American democracy – today’s Republican party.
I took some time mentally debating as to the title of today’s post. Beware one of the options violated my PG rating and it is in the last paragraph of this article. In any event the message is much more important than the event covered today that I will use to illustrate it.
One of the things I did for the 2022 mid-term is pay decent attention to governors’ races for the first time in this column’s history. I’m basically an East Coast/Midwestern guy but today I want to take you far west of the Mississippi River to Arizona. Arizona is a purple state where the battle for American democracy is very much being waged. Part of preserving the America I know and love entails taking the governorship of Arizona this fall.
