Monday morning, I was reading online newspapers on my iPad as is my usual practice. When I opened the Washington Post a banner informed me that Elissa Slotkin had just declared that she was a candidate for the Michigan Senate seat Debbie Stabenow was vacating. I’m detecting a pattern here and I like it.
Dateline: The late morning of Wednesday January 4, 2023. Yesterday the 118th House of Representatives arguably went into session. Republican “control” is already proving chaotic!
On the surface the big story of the week just ended is Nancy Pelosi’s decision to step back from House leadership. To stop there is folly. There is so much more happening in the lower chamber of Congress.
Even with a postponement – and I have some thoughts on that, not to be shared today – the 1/6 Committee hearings were the big events of the week just ended. We learned some things and other suspicions were confirmed. Allow me to go through a brief overview and comments exercise.
