The Empire (State) Strikes Back
I was born, educated and lived the first 47 years of my life in New York State so I guess I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for it. (That still doesn’t negate the fact that I don’t miss the snow.) Recently its rising political star Attorney General Eric Schneiderman was forced out in a matter of hours when he was exposed in a scandal. The speed with which he resigned makes me believe there was a lot of fire behind that smoke and that somebody who was politically motivated let the cat out of the bag. Trump’s Hollow Words
On the afternoon of January 20, 2017 Donald Trump took the oath of office of the Presidency of the United States of America. Those words were his first lies in office and it hasn’t improved since. The oath reads in part, “…defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same…” In the following paragraphs I will cite several occasions where Trump has failed. Bought Bipartisan
I face two problems with today’s article: controlling my rage and keeping it brief enough. On Sunday October 15th The Washington Post published Scott Higham and Lenny Bernstein’s article The Opioid Epidemic: How Congress and the drug companies worked to neutralize the DEA. Later that evening the two lead segments of CBS’s 60 Minutes were dedicated to the same topic. The two news organizations had collaborated on the pieces. Let’s explore.
