Divert, Delay, Dissuade

I saw this coming. In fact, I have warned of it before in this column. On Monday Trump’s hand picked RNC Chair, Ronna McDaniel, (she dropped the Romney middle name when Trump became uncomfortable with it despite her blood relation to Mitt Romney) told Breitbart News that the Republican party had recruited over 45,000 poll watchers in battleground states for the 2022 elections. This has nothing to do with the advertised integrity and everything to do with voter intimidation and other undemocratic intents.

The Glaringly Obvious Domestic Threat

One of the email messages that greeted me when I woke up Sunday morning was that 31 white supremacists had been arrested in Idaho for plotting to disrupt an LGBTQ pride event. It seems that members of that community, their families and supporters were basically going to get together for a family day at the park. A Saturday picnic at the park; it hardly gets more American and peaceful than that.

I’ve lost count but America is in about its fifth week of protests. It started out as a right wing thing, with the police killing of George Floyd evolved into a left wing thing and then the right wing, not to be outdone, started showing up in armed counter protests. House Garbage

Congress comes into a lot of criticism for being unproductive. Speaker Paul Ryan likes to defend the productivity of the House by citing the number of bills it passes that die in the Senate. While I am far from a defender of Mitch McConnell’s Senate, if I put my old management hat on I would say we are dealing with a quality control problem in addition to a productivity problem.
