Normally the subject of my Sunday article is the biggest political story of the week just passed. Internationally anyway, the biggest story of this week, although not unexpected, broke this Sunday. Recep Erdogan was reelected to a five year term as President of Turkey. I doubt most Americans even noticed but the international implications could be huge.

2022 Book Of The Year

We are getting close to the last minute holiday shopping crunch – or for you procrastinators the planning stage. Sizes and selections are starting to be a bear. For online shoppers (and there are more of us especially as our lives changed more rapidly due to the pandemic) delivery is now a consideration. In her work historian and NYU professor Dr. Ben-Ghiat outlines the similarities of authoritarian figures of the last 100 years from Mussolini to Trump and Putin.  The similarities are equally uncanny ans scary.

Rated R – Walmart

Just over a year ago I started the Rated R section. Yes, there was something racy about the choice of words that was intended to grab attention. There was also careful thought that went into that decision. I could have just called for flat out boycotts but I realized that they are not always practical. I do not want progressives to cut off their nose to spite their face. I also knew the day would come when I inevitably would put Wal Mart on the Rated R list, and today is that day.
