Perhaps the most famous phrase from Watergate is, “Follow the money.” Despite the reality that it was never uttered in connection with that scandal it is good advice when trying to analysis political goings-on. I want to do a bit of that today.
Since World War II, and arguably earlier, America has been the world’s leader. Until the Trump administration came along that is. Trump singlehandedly destroyed our world leadership position under the banner of America First which in his application meant America alone. Unilaterally giving up the number one slot only played into Vladimir Putin’s hands. Russia can only “advance in the standings” if the leaders come back to it. In any event Biden’s plate will be overflowing and one of the pressing matters will be rejoining the world community as a leader. Today I’d like to explore six related challenges. The other day I wrote one of my periodic state of the 2020 Senate races articles. In it I could have been clearer about one of the Georgia Senate seats and I want to go into more detail today. I will also use today’s article as a sort of catch up article on several other events. Let’s explore. Continue reading A Clarification And More
