I was initially going to split this article into three groups as outlined in the title. Then I realized that in many cases my observations led to my attempts at sarcastic humor and it was almost impossible to separate them. I sincerely hope none of the fears I outline today materialize; perhaps that is why they are fears. However they are not outside the realm of possibility with Donald Trump at the helm in Washington. In 1993 Elaine Chao became Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s second and arguably trophy wife. She comes from a wealthy family most of who still do business in China and in the surrounding region. In 2001 she became George W. Bush’s Secretary of Labor, a post she stayed in during the entirety of both Bush terms. In 2017 she became Donald Trump’s Secretary of Transportation. Amongst The Distractions
The news last week was dominated by the Trump administration’s handling of the refugee crisis on our southern border, Trump bragging about how great he is (his big example was what he considers to be his great achievement with Kim Jung-un) and Melania’s jacket. In short, Trump created the crisis, he got his behind handed to him in Singapore and I really don’t care what the First Lady wears because she is largely irrelevant.
