We could have quite a debate as to who is the worst governor in America running for reelection in 2022, but no doubt Greg Abbott of Texas would be high on that list. While it may be a bit outside, there is a chance he can be knocked off even in an “off year” election.

Ahead From Behind
For a variety of reasons the fourth quarter always seemed to be a heavily constrained time of the year for me. This has continued into my “retirement”. Part of the reason this year is the plethora of impeachment hearings which take up tons of hours to watch (and I watch most of them). That is far from the only political news. 2018 Progressive Of The Year
Identifying a single individual as the Progressive of the Year is a much more difficult task than it appears to be. 2018 was typical in that respect. There was a plethora of people (mostly nameless and faceless) that collectively would be deserving recipients of the honor. There were also several prominent individuals with high name recognition. In the end I chose a relatively obscure individual, (who I’m not even sure is a progressive), for a single act that upheld the Constitution and representative democracy. The Senate races garnering the most attention (including mine) going into Election Day are the closely contested ones. The Democrats have to net two in order to take back the chamber which considering the numbers and states will be difficult.
