I’m old enough to remember when African-Americans were totally shut out of most governmental and business decision making bodies. Back then the initial objective was literally a seat at the table. They realized that they needed to be in the mix before they could make an impact; but that if they weren’t represented they weren’t even in the discussion. Those Who Fail …
There is an axiom along the lines of: Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. The proverb and its origin are themselves in some dispute. It appears the original version was not in English and therefore some things were literally lost in translation. In any event, the concept is both well-known and very true.
