Mainly at the state level the Republican Party has been engaged in voter suppression for decades. Of late they have moved into voter intimidation. Ironically they learned both from, among other sources, the Democrats of the Jim Crow era. Now they are unveiling their final tactic – voter nullification. The scariest part is that the general public seems to be completely unaware of that.

It’s Monday morning of Thanksgiving week as I begin to write this. Congress is on break this week. When do they actually work and considering what they do are we perhaps better off when they don’t? In any event I don’t expect as much to happen this week as in recent weeks. I’m waiting for a court decision and whatever else happens in the Trump scandals. If I were to commit a particular crime – say rob a store – there is a fairly good chance I would get away with it if the caper were well planned and an isolated incident. Life is very forgiving in that an isolated mistake often goes unpunished. Ever driven home after a wee bit too much to drink?
