Filibuster Reform

A lot changes at noon today. The most recognized is that Joe Biden becomes President.  Also Kamala Harris becomes Vice President which means she becomes President of the Senate.  With the seating of both Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock of Georgia it gives the Democrats control of the upper chamber and makes Chuck Schumer the Majority Leader.   Mathematically at least that gives the Democrats the opportunity to make a needed rule change.  Let’s explore.   Continue reading Filibuster Reform

As I Head To Some Time Off

2020 has been an unusual year to say the least. Routine became almost synonymous with nostalgia.  One thing I’m keeping the same is that I am taking the second half of December off from my version of live blogging.  The next several articles will have been written well before publishing.  (Unlike Congress I make sure my work is finished before I take off.)  However I cannot leave without taking a look at a few tidbits before I go.  Let’s explore. The Enshrinement Of Ruth Bader Ginsburg

This action will come as no surprise to my regular readers. Last week President Trump made a remark during one of his pep rallies that is both chilling and reminiscent of the actions of autocrats of the last 100 years. Today let’s explore that. The Enshrinement Of Abigail Adams

I expect 2018 to be an unusual year and I can think of few ways better to start than by enshrining what many may initially think is an unusual choice for the Progressive Hall of Fame. Abigail Adams is mainly known for being the wife of our second President, John Adams, and the mother of our sixth President, John Quincy Adams. While that alone is notable, it doesn’t even figure into her induction. After reading the next few paragraphs I think you will agree with her worthiness for induction.
