The American Constitution is an amazing yet imperfect document. The men – and perhaps the exclusion of women was one of the problems – who drew it up were brilliant and had anything but an easy task before them. We reluctantly still teach that among other things it contained what was at that time deemed several best possible compromises. In my nerdy way I’d like to explore a few of those provisions today and the results of them over two centuries later.

My President Is Pitifully Incompetent
No person has every talent necessary to run something as large and complex as the American federal government. Knowing your weaknesses and getting people on your staff that can plug those holes is a large part of being a competent manager. The technological advances that have come with the passage of time only exacerbated that challenge. President Trump and I are close in age and have a very similar education from world class management schools. When we were in school the laptop computer didn’t exist. As President he has the entire federal bureaucracy at his disposal. A competent manger would use that to his advantage. Donald Trump is incompetent. Let’s explore. The use of Don is not a familiar version of Donald; it is a direct implication that Donald Trump is acting like The Godfather character Don Corleone. As the almost daily revelations of the way he handles his business affairs are coupled with hindsight and many of his actions it increasing looks like the Trump organization operates like a criminal enterprise.
