It may not be nice to gloat about other people’s misfortunes but I’m doing so as I write this (very early Monday afternoon). Extremely late this morning I received news that Tucker Carlson and Fox News were no more. I’ll expand on my choice of words below. A weird thought: If those tales I was told as a child of Purgatory are in fact true, I guess I’ll do a little bit more time in that sin bin (hey, a rare hockey reference) for this article.

Various parties may call it various things but the reality is that Carlson was fired by Fox this morning. Fox’s official statement read, “Fox Media News and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.” Translation: F*** you, Tucker and don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Carlson hosted Fox’s top-rated show in the 8pm Monday-Friday slot. Fox lives (and now it is proven lies for ratings). However, Carlson committed the unforgivable sin at Fox; he told the truth in emails at least.

The termination was immediate. Carlson’s last show was on Friday where he made no indication that he was leaving. In fact, as late as Monday morning the network was running promotions for his show. The firing comes days after Fox News settled with Dominion for $787.5 million. You can choose to believe that is a coincidence; I maintain it was cause and effect.

In earlier years Carlson ended up wearing out his welcome at, among other places, CNN and MSNBC. Don’t feel sorry for Carlson. Chances are he will still do better than you. He is a member of the Lucky Sperm Cell Club and is always playing with a fat (inherited) wallet.

What’s next for Carlson is a question that we may not get the answer to for some time; he already hit bottom for a political figure having done Dancing with the Stars.
