Larry was born in Buffalo, New York and holds a management degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Larry is the former Chairman of the Franklin County (NC) Democratic Party. He is also a veteran of Democratic politics in Erie County, New York and Hernando County, Florida.

A former high school and college basketball coach he also spent parts of his career in commercial banking and beverage alcohol. Now retired, he had a weekly op-ed column in the Franklin Times through December of 2016 in addition to this website which launched in December of 2010.

Larry lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina with his wife Cathleen and their appropriately named dog Truman.
