Nostalgic Nitwits

A newspaper publisher friend of mine often tells the story of a mentor of his who liked to say that, “The good old days weren’t really that good after all.” In reality they simply are not coming back. A lot of Trump voters and still (for the time being anyway) Trump supporters would be wise to heed those words. Let’s explore. Continue reading Nostalgic Nitwits

The Enshrinement Of Barack Obama

The Progressive Hall of Fame is to a great degree modeled after baseball’s Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. Like in baseball, there are very few “first ballot” hall of famers in progressive politics. The Endorsement Of Kamala Harris

I’m among the vast majority of political observers who expect the Democrats to win control of the Senate this November. Arithmetic is part of the reason. The Republicans have to defend 24 seats while the Democrats only have to defend ten to maintain the status quo which leaves the Democrats plenty of room to pick up five seats (six if by some quirk they fail to retain the White House). From a partisan standpoint the Democrats literally can’t lose. Nonetheless tellthetruthonthem.com has decided to endorse Kamala Harris for the United States Senate in California. Rated R – Chick-fil-A

We all do something stupid occasionally. Usually we realize it, apologize to those we have wronged and learn from our mistake. America is a very forgiving nation. Americans tend to dismiss a lone transgression with the attitude of: we all make mistakes and are not in a position to cast the first stone. Chick-fil-A president and Chief Operating Officer, Dan T. Cathy, obviously never learned that lesson or did not appreciate the forgiveness bestowed upon him from most Americans because; well, he did it again. Continue reading Rated R – Chick-fil-A

This Is The 2016 Republican Party

One of the most important but overlooked things the national convention of a political party does is adopt a platform. That document tells you what a Party and its candidates stand for; what they believe in and why they are asking you to vote for them. Yesterday the Republican National Convention adopted its platform. It lays out the basic values of the Party and what every candidate stands for from Donald Trump to the candidate for the lowliest local office in the smallest municipality in America.   Continue reading This Is The 2016 Republican Party
