As the Trump administration fumbles its way to what I anticipate will be an inglorious ending it is difficult not to compare it with two failed Republican presidencies of my lifetime. As I write this Trump is in the air on his way back from the G20 meetings in Hamburg, Germany. His actions to date remind me very much of those of Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan. Let’s explore. I’m well into my sixth decade of life in America. Unlike some of my contemporaries I don’t long for the good old days because I realize they weren’t really all that good. I like things like better air to breath, better water to drink, the ability to live life free from the fear of many diseases and a plethora of modern conveniences (like the device you are reading this article on). Simply put America is a great country! In the old days when we saw something that surprised us we would usually sum up the experience with words along the lines of: If you live long enough you will see everything. I remember Nixon resigning from the presidency under impending House impeachment and Senate conviction and thought it was a once in a lifetime experience. Today things seem to be moving faster and perhaps the new “axiom” is: If you live long enough you will see everything twice. Let’s explore. Continue reading Living In A Faster America
For months now I have compared the Trump administration to an organized criminal enterprise because, boiled down to basics, that is exactly what it is. Now in a somewhat comedic way I’d like to put it to music and set it up like a Saturday Night Live skit. Let’s explore. Continue reading The Continuing Saga Of Don Trump Goes To Washington
If the Ivy League keeps sending us presidents like George W. Bush (Yale) and Donald Trump (University of Pennsylvania) I don’t know how much longer people like me are almost universally going to accept it as America’s elite conference academically. It really isn’t fair to evaluate eight schools on the basis of two alums. All that being said the current occupant of the Oval Office is not very bright. Therefore today’s title reminding Trump that there is no other planet on which human life is sustainable and we can transport ourselves to. Earth is it. There is no Planet B; (where have we read that before?) With all that in mind let’s explore what happened in the Rose Garden Thursday afternoon. Continue reading You Can’t Exit Earth
I’m guilty. In this case I really do not matter. Most Democrats including many key players in the 2016 Clinton campaign are also guilty and that ended up being a big deal. The crime: Not taking your opponent’s chance of winning seriously enough. Let’s explore. Continue reading A Path Forward – Part Seven
