I face two problems with today’s article: controlling my rage and keeping it brief enough. On Sunday October 15th The Washington Post published Scott Higham and Lenny Bernstein’s article The Opioid Epidemic: How Congress and the drug companies worked to neutralize the DEA. Later that evening the two lead segments of CBS’s 60 Minutes were dedicated to the same topic. The two news organizations had collaborated on the pieces. Let’s explore. I was watching MSNBC last Tuesday evening. That’s no major revelation nor is it anything unusual. What was unusual was the hype the network gave to The Rachel Maddow Show that evening. His argument was based on a demonstrably false assertion, but that is par for the course for the Trump-Pence campaign. The politically unwise (I’m in a kind mood today) move was bringing up foundations in the first place since the Donald J. Trump Foundation is suspect to say the least. That is an area I wouldn’t want to go into if I were advising the Trump campaign. Yesterday I even pondered if it was a sabotage move on the part of Pence to set himself up for a 2020 run.
