Today’s posting is inspired by and its title is a takeoff on REM’s 1987 hit entitled: It’s the End of the World As We Know It. That line is both the song’s title and the oft repeated refrain. By changing the tense of one word is it perfectly sums up what damage Donald Trump has done to America’s global image in a succinct phrase. Let’s explore. My President Is Very Bad At His Job

America only has one President at a time. Currently that is Donald Trump. I don’t have to like that fact, but the only rational choice is to accept it. Trump is incredibly bad at his job! I could spend the following paragraphs detailing a plethora of examples. Instead I’m going to use one that came to my attention the other day. You will probably be a shocked as I was. A Path Forward – Part Four

I just finished reading the third in a series of books meant to challenge my liberal beliefs and more importantly understand what motivated Donald Trump voters. Somewhere in the near future all three of them will reach the Recommended Reading list. I’m still as liberal as ever. However the books, coupled with my upbringing in the Rust Belt, made me pause just a bit and understand how people could end up voting for Trump. An Examination Of Priorities

Perhaps the fact that I have lived in North Carolina for the past several years magnifies the problem in my mind but before you vote I want you to consider where the two parties’ priorities are. The Democrats are putting a lot of emphasis on combatting the negative effects of climate change; the Republicans either don’t even believe it exists, think it is a Chinese hoax or think man’s actions have nothing to do with it. The Republicans have made combating voter fraud (or at least that’s what they cloak their effort at voter suppression as) a major focus despite the fact that voter fraud in American elections is close to non-existent.
